christmas hampers

Over 370 hampers received by local families
36 schools & community organisations
70 volunteers from at least 5 different churches

  • school chaplain - hudson park + ashdale primary school

“Thank you so, so much for the Christmas hampers!  They have been really appreciated, some with tears!  Some feel like they just can't thank us enough.  It is something that families haven't expected, but it is really needed and so welcomed!  Thank you to ALL involved!”

  • Dept of Communities

“Thank you again for the amazing generosity from yourself and the Church. The Case workers here at Mirrabooka have started delivering them out to families and they are so touched by the thoughtfulness from your community.”

  • Family - Warwick Secondary College

"The most important and beautiful part of the entire hamper for me was the framed poem. I have now placed it at our front door as that is the message I strive to convey to all that come here. I am proud that we have such a safe house 🏠 where on the average weekend end up with 4-10 extra children as they know they are able to be themselves and accepted with love and kindness."

  • School Chaplain - Wanneroo Secondary College

“Thank you Ben and all involved, all of the staff here were gobsmacked at the beautiful hampers they saw me bring in and the talk it generated here in the school between the staff was really awesome. Was lovely to hear things like, how nice of people/the Church to do this etc etc. Great conversations to be started and heard as part of the LOS initiative.“

  • family - Sorrento Primary School

“Thank you so much for the thoughtful gift hamper.

I was absolutely blown away and was a bit emotional when it was given it to me.

I understand this year has been tough for many, and many who had it worse than us, so I just want you to know how much it is appreciated.”

  • school chaplain - poseidon primary school

“Thank you once again for going above and beyond with the hampers. The staff at school have loved handing them out and seeing the families faces when they come to collect them. They are so grateful to the Churches.”

Kids Hope interview with a principal from a public primary school
in the city of Joondalup in December 2024

  • Why did you engage with Kids Hope in mentoring program at your school?

“Looking for a mentoring program in my school to support student’s emotional and social wellbeing.

So many students are struggling. Our school chaplain introduced me to Kids Hope and it ticked all the boxes; it was one-on-one mentoring, the volunteers were very well trained and it would build resilience, confidence and a sense of belonging for these kids in the school.”

  • What has been the impact on the school?

“The volunteers have this positivity about them, this joy about them because they really want to be here.

The office staff really love them and they have added to the positive culture of the school.

The students who are being mentored are engaging more in their classrooms and their academic and social skills have improved.

It’s helped foster a supportive and inclusive culture in the school.”

  • A specific example of the positive change.

“A student who has so many challenges, loved to play basketball and the mentor would go out with him and play and they would chat.

Evey week this student wants to see his mentor.

The classroom teacher said the change in the attitude of this student has been outstanding, as well as a change in his peer relationships.

I spoke with this student’s mum, she got teary and she said he has changed so much at home and their relationship is so much stronger and she thanked Kids Hope.”

  • Why have you asked for more trained Kids Hope mentors?

“The demand is growing in the school. There is a waitlist. Parents are asking for more support because they have heard about the program.

The dedication and compassion these mentors have shown our students has made a significant difference in our school and I am really grateful for our partnership with Kids Hope.”
